About AJFO
AJFO convenes and creates opportunities to advance and promote evidence-based and best practices, policies, and approaches for working with women and girls in the criminal justice system.
Conference
Since 1985, AJFO has co-hosted a national conference that brings together professionals committed to improving outcomes for women and girls in the criminal justice system.
Each conference convenes more than 400 participants from across the country, including criminal justice practitioners, system leaders, policymakers, treatment providers, advocates, researchers, and women with lived experience. As one of the longest-running conferences dedicated exclusively to this work, it serves as a central space for learning, connection, and innovation.
Participants engage in dynamic sessions focused on evidence-based and gender-responsive approaches, while also building relationships that extend beyond the conference. The experience is designed not only to share knowledge, but to strengthen practice, inspire new ideas, and support meaningful change across systems.
More than a conference, AJFO creates a community where professionals come together with a shared commitment to advancing effective, responsive approaches for women and girls.
